Page 1 of 2 Mario Kart Wii is the newest reiteration of Nintendo's series of racing games. Mario Kart Wii has a selection of 16 brand new tracks, 16 past favorites, and a wide selection of karts, bikes, and characters, including your Mii. Tsubasacon will be hosting a Mario Kart Wii tournament at this year's convention. Tournament Details Grand Prix Tournament The Tsubasacon Mario Kart Wii grand prix tournament will consist of four-player grand prix races split into two phases. Phase one will consist of a three-race series, with the top racer advancing to the next round. Phase one will continue until the four top racers remain. The four remaining players will compete in phase two, a five-race series whose winner will be crowned the tournament champion.
If possible, all karts, bikes, and characters (with the exception of Miis) will be selectable. If all karts and bikes are not available for the tournament, only default karts and bikes will be allowed (the first three of each for all weight classes) to insure fairness. Each series of races will consist of a random track with no CPU karts and default item settings. A series which results in a draw may either result in both winning racers advancing to the next round, or a one-race shootout, depending on how many participants remain. Controllers Tsubasacon will provide four Nintendo GameCube controllers to be used for the tournament matches. A limited number of Nintendo Wii Remotes, Nunchucks, Classic Controllers, and Wii Wheels will be available for use for those who would prefer an alternative controller. Only default controller schemes will be allowed. Players are permitted to bring and use their own Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii Classic Controllers, and/or Nintendo Wii Wheels, though due to the setup process of synching Nintendo Wii Remotes, the same Remotes will be used throughout the tournament. Game Settings The following settings will be used during the tournament (as they appear in the game’s options):
