More details will be coming but we're thinking of hosting this event Sunday morning.

Just Anime only or other anime related items as well? I know someone will ask so might as well get it out of the way. ^_^

Here's the basic rundown of how the swap meet works:

Grab up all of your old used (or possibly unused if you've got them) Manga, Anime DVDs/BDs (VHS if you're really brave) and bring them to Tsubasacon. NO ANIME RELATED ITEMS PLEASE (Figures and such). It gets too confusing to decide on prices of such things to make even trades. Books tend to run around $10 a piece and videos around $20 a piece so it's a fairly easy trade-off.

Most likely this event will happen either Friday or Sunday morning - we're kind of pushing for Sunday so that you have time to buy something and read it and then if you don't like it you can swap it out later during the convention.

With books and videos in hand you do "This for That" trades with people who also have books or videos that they don't want anymore. The trades are entirely up to you and the person you are trading for. Usually it goes ONE book for ONE book. ONE DVD for ONE DVD, etc. Although if both of you agree you an also trade, say, two books for a DVD or a whole DVD set for a whole manga set.


FOR EXAMPLE:

You have #1 & #2 Deathnote Manga and you see someone with #1 & #2 Naruto manga and you trade them.

You have #4 & #5 of Cardcaptor Sakura DVD and want to trade them for #7 & #8 of Cowboy Bebop... etc.


We'll have mediators on hand in case anyone feels they aren't quite sure what's a fair trade, but during the picnic things went pretty fast and furious and some people traded up books two or three times before they went home with something they wanted. It's pretty cool because you can say your friend has a book someone else wants but they want something you have so you can trade between the three of you!

You never said what type of anime, meaning can we bring hentai?
Of coarse we would make sure people are 18+ before even showing.

I need to talk to some of the other staff members who will be helping me with this event, but I think for this year we might want to hold off on Hentai. If the event goes well this year we might do a special "after-dark" swap next year.

I really don't think we want to be carding for this event, which is what it would turn out to be if you brought 18+ materials.

However...we won't be opposed to you bringing it to your hotel room and then asking around at the swap if anyone else wants to trade outside of the convention that sort of material.


Before the month is out we'll try to have a full guide on the swap posted online for everyone, so keep the questions coming so we can cover all angles!
