Jen Lee Quick is hosting a Cel Painting Class at Tsubasacon 2008!!

Have you ever wondering how traditional animation is done?  Ever wanted to try your hand at painting cells yourself?  Jen Lee Quick, our special OEL (original english language) manga-ka is going to be teaching a special workshop where YOU can paint your own animation cell!  We supply everything from the cells to paints and brushes and you get to try your hand at it!!

There's only one catch... there's not much room!!  Here are the details:

Sign up will happen at the convention and by email - spaces are limited and there will be a $5 entrance fee (paid at the workshop for your paints and supplies).  Additional information:  for all Saturday attendees, this class will be scheduled sometime on Saturday and I'll update this once our official schedule is completed!  Signups at the convention will be at the artist alley sign-in table at the front of the artist alley - and also possibly with Jen Quick herself.  Cheesy  When you complete your cell you'll be able to take it home with you!

Those who are interested email me (Richelle) at: artistalley@tsubasacon.org
Make sure you give me your name and email address in case I need to email you with any additional information!

Okay this might sound really dumb but what is cell painting?

It sounds cool but before I pay 5 dollers for something I would like to know what it is, do you mind exsplaing it to me?

Cell painting is how anime people originally colored their anime and by doing multiple cells slightly different they made movement when put together (you know, the basics of animation).  We're going to show you how they originally painted cells before computer coloring started.  Basically you're paying for paint, paintbrushes that we had to pay for ahead of time (and the cells to paint on) - that's all the $5 is for.  Cheesy

Since I won't be able to check my email the next few days you'll have to sign up at the convention on Friday and Saturday mornings - be aware there are less than 10 spots left so make sure you sign up early when you get in!  If you don't see a sign up in the artist alley for it, most likely the class will be closed, but you can always ask myself or Jen Quick if there are any openings when you come!

See you at Tsubasacon!!!
