Tsubasacon 2009

The only other convention I have been to is Ohayocon, which is an order of magnitude larger than Tsubasacon.  There is a lot more stuff to do, but you have the same amount of time to fit it into.  I couldn't help but feel that I was missing out on a whole lot.  Regardless, I was pleased with the experience.  I think the issue you run into is that you're overwhelmed by everything.  All of the hallways are crowded, you're constantly figuring out ultimatums as to what you want to do, it's difficult to get from point A to point B (especially if point B is your hotel room), and your limited funds are spread even thinner in a large city.

I am very partial to Tsubasacon; from a staffer's point of view, it's much easier to manage a small con, and the fewer things that go wrong, the less stress that's on the workers, and the better experience that is had across the board.  We have always had compliments from con-goers that our staffers are extremely friendly, and that makes people want to come back.  Obviously we're doing something right to get comments like that, and Ohayocon is doing something right to be sporting over 6,000 people at their convention.

I'm a fan of Tsubasacon; it doesn't feel like you're spending the majority of your time "waiting"...  that being said, you can fit more into your day, less downtime, etc.  I guess it could be argued that having more options is worth the weight, but in either case, I feel you're getting your money's worth.

I prefer smaller cons. More chances to see all of the cosplayers and it just feels like a friendlier atmosphere.

You gotta like the size of Tsubasacon.  Generally small...but who knows if someday we start creeping into Ohayocon size or even bigger...NAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmm idk b/c this will be my first year going to a convention I can't wait until Saturday!!!

I've never actually been to a large con before...every time I plan to go, something gets in my way and I am letdown.

But anyway, enough about that.  I tend to prefer medium and big cons.  The only medium con I've been to is Tekkoshocon in Pittsburgh, PA.  That's an awesome con!  ^^

Actually, for the past 3 years, I've been trying to attend a NY anime con....I've made 3 attempts and each time I've been letdown.  This time I actually had the chance to go, but my parents said "no" despite the fact that I actually had a plane ticket and money for the con.   

So yeah, I'm giving up on meeting my favorite VA, since it's impossible. I hate my fate and how I have so much bad luck with attending anime cons....

The only other con I've been to, other than Tsubasacon, is Ohayocon, which is roughly ten times larger.  It was extremely crowded, and the hotel facilities had issues handling the crowds (well...  there were idiots that abused the purpose of an elevator, but that's beside the point).  It was frustrating to get around, and it seemed a bit claustrophobic at times.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a "big con", but being able to handle the crowd is essential.  It makes it seem less overwhelming.

In short, it's not a matter of size, but rather "density".
