HUNTINGTON, WEST VIRGINIA – September 30, 2008 – If you were in downtown Huntington this past weekend, you would have noticed a large number of people dressed in strange costumes wandering the streets. The reason for this eclectic mix of video game and anime (Japanese animation) characters was not because of a mistimed Halloween party, but because Tsubasacon, West Virginia's first and only anime convention, had invaded the Riverfront Ballroom and Conference Center at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

The dust is beginning to settle now as Tsubasacon 2008 officially closed its doors earlier today.

For those of you who were able to make it, thank you for attending and making this year possible for us. We didn't just surpass last year in attendance, we annihilated it. An official number will come in the next few weeks, but it is well over our projected 700 figure. Without all of your help, none of this would have been possible.

Please keep on the look-out for an exit survey to appear on the website; we're interested in hearing your feedback on our events and look forward to making improvements on next year.

However, the best is yet to come. If you are not already at Tsubasacon 2008, then get yourself down here and have a great time with the rest of us.

Ever wondered what the name of Tsubasacon's little angel mascot is? Truth be told, she never had one. But this year, she demanded to have a name. After all, she got annoyed by the Fugitive Webmonkey shouting, "HEY YOU!" when he talked to her. So, we are giving you the opportunity to give her a name. But there is more then just naming our little angel. You can get your creative juices going by writing a back story for her.

The contest will run through the convention, until Sunday, September 28 at 10 am. The winning name and back story will be announced on Sunday, September 28 at 1 pm. Good luck!
